Lee Gingras - sellout
Lee Gingras is a mixed media artist living in Seattle, WA. Process art is their healing and community-building practice, and they are happiest when experimenting.
Lee uses encaustics as a tactile and messy tool to work through big, hard feelings. Sometimes they just let their hands create the textures they want to feel, and after a few hours of scraping and shaping and dripping, will step back and go "oh, huh...so *that*'s the feeling I've been having". Other times they go in angry or frustrated and want to work on something technical & difficult to fully soak up their feelings for a little while.
This is why it feels so weird to sell these pieces; and why they are calling this show 'sellout'. These are little pieces of Lee and they wouldn't exist without the alchemy of wax into feelings. How could they sell their feelings?
