Gigi Grinstad, Pollinators: Monarch and Milkweed
22 X 22"
Oil and encaustic
Statement from the artist: "This painting is the beginning of a series that i haven't fully developed yet, but have been mulling over for a long time. The monarch butterfly migrates through central Texas. Many native Texas wildflowers are pollinated by migrating birds and insects. These pollinator species are repeated and become a pattern in the painting. They are dependent on one another so neither one is in the foreground, instead they create a texture and a pattern together."
