Grace Gibson, Five of Cups
Watercolor, ink, and gold leaf
5 ⅛ X 7 ⅛"
Statement from the artist:
The five of cups symbolizes loss and sorrow, as well as serves as a reminder of what we still have. All of us have experienced loss, some more profoundly over the last year and a half, and all of us have needed a reminder of what we have to be grateful for. A grinning skull lifts two unspilled cups above three spilled ones as if to tell the viewer to take the time to mourn their losses, but don't neglect what you still have and who still needs you.
